Hi Vince,
I’ve enjoyed watching many of your Youtube videos especially those relagted to impact drivers. I’m just a residential consummer looking for a reliable tool. Suffice it to say I was disappointed to see that Dewalt’s DCF887 fare so poorly against many of it’s competitors. When I saw it overheating and smoking I decided not to purchase it. Now I’m looking at Milwaukee’s Gen3 but you shown that the collet makes this tool a gamble as well. Surprisingly a tech rep at Milwaukee with whom I spoke today said he was unaware of ‘slippy-bit syndrome’. No, I didn’t call it that but he said he had absolutely no knowledge of a collet slippage issue. I suggested that he might google Milwaukee collet issue where it is quickly noted. I also mentioned your Youtube program, not by name, but simply recounted your demonstrations. The tech said it is important to use ‘the correct bit’, one with a separation between two hex sections. I responded that you always used impact ready bits such as those manufactured by Milwaukee, Mikita, Dewalt, Bosc, etc. He only responded that if there is problem with a tool, Milwaukee will stand behind it and fix it. He suggested that if this problem exceeds 20%, Milwaukee will address it otherwise for issues less than 1% he would assume the problem is isolated and such problems occur with all tools. Nevertheless he noted they would attempt to fix the problem. So, wondering if I should buy this product. I would appreciate your comments.
