In last week’s blog post we talked about what it takes to make your home’s bathroom feel like the Spa at the Hershey Hotel! In our current blog post it’s the room in your house we want as beautiful as Caesar’s Palace but as functional as a Swiss army knife. Courtesy of the guys at V.C.G. Construction, who have undertaken numerous Philadelphia foyer remodeling projects, here are just a few reasons you should optimize your entryways!
Optimize Your Entryway – Foyer Remodeling – 3 Good Reasons!
The foyer may not seem like an important part of the house. After all, how often does anyone linger near the front door? Residents and guests alike promptly move on to rooms like the kitchen or living room.
But there are plenty of reasons the appearance and arrangement of your foyer makes an impact on your everyday life. In fact, we would like to argue that an organized, attractive foyer is vital to the upkeep of the household.
1. Your foyer makes the first impression.
We all love to make good first impressions on friends and family we’ve invited into our homes. And which rooms will these guests see first? The foyer, of course!
Impress visitors with a foyer that speaks to your home’s personality, perhaps by installing natural travertine floors with artistic lighting that sets the perfect mood. A foyer remodeling project is your chance to dream up the welcoming and memorable impression you’ve always wanted to make!
2. Your foyer can help you get organized.
Let’s face it: The first thing we all do when we walk through the front door is drop everything: keys, backpacks, shopping bags, shoes, etc. Because of this, the foyer can easily become a clutter hot spot. That’s why a functional design is all the more vital. While planning your foyer remodeling project consider furnishing it with shelving designed specifically for storing every family member’s stuff. Drawers for shoes, hooks for coats, and benches for bags make entering the home smoother, neater, and far less frustrating to whomever is slaving to keep your home organized.
Not to worry if your foyer is small! Even the snuggest spaces benefit from clever fixtures such as the shelving in the photo below, with baskets stacked in individual compartments for storing lots of items with minimal floor space.
3. Your foyer can get you out the door faster.
Last but not least, your foyer is the last part of the home you visit on your way out into the world. Whether you have traffic to beat or a bus to catch, you usually want to make your exit snappy, right?
A well-organized foyer can streamline the process! Make use of this space to stow all of the things you usually grab on your way out, from keys to umbrellas to train tokens. The best designs incorporate the storage of these items without sacrificing style, through the use of furniture pieces that are both appealing and functional.
Rather than scrambling around your home in a frenzy, you’ll know exactly where to find all of the little things you need to keep your day running smoothly.

This is very inspiring info. It lets you see what can be done in even the smallest spaces, and at a smaller scale. The entry to your home, can be an “eye opening” experience. So if, you want to welcome people to your home, this is where it starts!
Good point, Thanks!
As the lady of the house a beautiful, inviting foyer is of upmost importance
to the welcoming of my guests. I love opening my door to a guest that has not been
in my home before and seeing their first impression of my home. It all begins with the foyer.
For family a well organized foyer helps to make for smoother coming and goings. Everything
has it’s place and a foyer that is organized surely starts the day outside the home on a good note.
I believe that the foyer of a home is a project well worth investing in.
Elaine, Thanks for your comment! 😉
